Afterschool Partner Spotlight: BeMindful

Founded in 2011 by AnneMarie Rossi, BeMindful provides communities with access to qualified, instructor-led courses that leverage the benefits of applied neuroscience and mindfulness practices to improve quality of life and encourage diversity and inclusion.

BeMindful recently launched “This Is Your Mind: Applied Neuroscience for Wellbeing,” a free, online course that equips youth-serving professionals with the information and tools needed to improve their mind and body’s health through the application of the most current neuroscience findings to their lives. These practices help out-of-school time professionals roll back stress and create a healthy learning environment where every student succeeds.

"At Be Mindful, our hope is to bring the latest neuroscience findings in the most accessible way possible, focusing on providing proven techniques to lessen stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and so much more,” said AnneMarie Rossi. “Not only are we faced with the tremendous challenge of COVID-19, but we were already in a Global Mental Health Epidemic, which has only gotten exponentially worse, particularly for our youth and the youth-serving adults. Our programs are written at an 8th-grade level to benefit both adults and youth. We hope this program brings peace, helps build even stronger connections, and lessens suffering while improving overall mental and physical well-being."

Over the course of six weeks, participants learn the essential science of the mind, including evidence-based exercises to strengthen resilience and relationships; improve immune system function, emotional regulation, focus and attention; and decrease stress, anxiety, depression and more.
