Patterns of Coordination: Leveraging our Differences

Date: Thursday, April 15, 2021

Time: 10am-12pm

Location: Via Zoom

FFacilitator: Emily Herrin , Colorado Ballet

Description:

Come and learn from those who think like you and who think differently from you; strategize together how we can capitalize on our strengths and differences to build diverse and successful teams and best support students. The Patterns of Coordination provide a categorical framework for understanding one's patterns in communication style and collaboration or interaction with one another or with tasks. Each pattern is connected to a different developmental phase and is a great tool for afterschool providers to leverage in best supporting students. Additionally, the patterns can help us celebrate our gifts, identify our challenges, and get to know how those around us see the world as we work to build empathetic communities. The somatic element to this framework connects the patterns to our preferred physical activities, music, art, and work style and provides a new lens for organizing our world in a time that feels chaotic.

Takeaways:

  • Discover your pattern of coordination and how it influences your way of collaborating with others and with tasks.

  • Develop an understanding of how the patterns are parts to a whole team and how leveraging this leads to wider success in collaboration, team work, and leadership.

  • Apply the framework to your workplace, coworkers, and students to maximize your time together.
