Dear OST Community,
As we all attempt to cope with the recent mass shooting in Buffalo and the 27th school shooting this country has experienced this year, locally we are seeing an increase of young people who are experiencing various forms of violence, most often in silence until someone loses a life.
In processing this collective grief, anger, fear and sadness, know that we are with you. The children we care for personally and in our work need our love and advocacy more than ever. Please prioritize the mental health of yourselves, staff, and your families as you offer the space to be human and process in our own unique ways.
With love and compassion,
DAA Team

Get Summer Ready: Update Your Program in the Youth Program Locator Today!
Summer is right around the corner! Is your program listed on the Youth Program Locator?
If not, be sure to update your Program Schedule in DAAconnect to be listed on the Youth Program Locator. Additionally, it is also a great time to list your Fall programs, as parents are looking on the Youth Program Locator for afterschool activities. If you need assistance, please contact us at: daaconnect@denvergov.org.
Do you have any partner organizations or know of any other providers offering services or resources for families in Denver? If so, we’d love to include their listing on the Youth Program Locator as well. Even if an organization is not a direct-service provider, they can still be included to help families searching for resources. Examples include parenting classes, food assistance, suicide prevention, etc. Please let us know and we will reach out to the organization!
DAAconnect training material is posted in the HELP CENTER in DAAconnect. Our DAAconnect team is always happy to help if you need assistance or additional support in the system. Please reach out if we can help: daaconnect@denvergov.org.

Emotional Intelligence Corner:
Self-Care for Difficult Times
It is safe to say that life has been challenging for everyone lately. Just watching the nightly news can easily send one spiraling into a void of hopelessness and despair. Couple that with the fact that we are all completely burnt out from the normal hustle and bustle of daily life. It's no wonder that it is so easy to put self-care on the back burner.
But self-care is vitally important for your mental and physical health. And acknowledging it's importance during difficult times is a process that is worth navigating.
