Emotional Intelligence Corner:
The Power of Relationship Building
Building relationships with staff and young people are critical to creating a culture of courage, bravery and belonging. This Edutopia article outlines four ways to start building and nurturing authentic, strong relationships with students.
  • Develop your “empathetic listening” skills
  • Carve out time for small talk
  • Be genuine, it’s OK to show vulnerability
  • Track your efforts

“Just one relationship with a caregiver throughout a lifespan can actually change the brain’s development, heal trauma, and promote learning,”

YOU can be that person.
